The cultural landscape of dining in this country embraced sharing meals family-style, providing an opportunity to bond with fellow travelers over a spread of dishes recommended by local guides. Meals often revolved around a table with a rotating platter, where everyone could help themselves to an array of dishes. Choosing a favorite was challenging given the wide variety, but memorable highlights included rice noodles enjoyed in different regions, the surprisingly mild Sichuan Hot Pot, and the delectable assortment of vegetables, particularly the fried aubergine. And not to be overlooked were the delightful dumplings, which captured the essence of the culinary journey.
