World of Hyatt is collaborating with the mental wellness platform Headspace to introduce “Headspace’s Science Behind Sleep,” an educational series that offers scientifically validated sleep insights for those journeying. Almost 400 Hyatt properties offer access to this series in guest quarters and via the Headspace app.
This initiative is a reaction to a study showing that 75% of people put sleep quality as a top priority during journeys. The series, shot at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, Golf Club & Spa in Carlsbad, California, tackles aspects like managing jet lag, forming a nighttime travel routine, and coping with waking up during the night. Also included are suggestions about food and drink selections to maintain sleep and how morning sunlight can enhance overall health.
Created by Dora Kamau, a guide in meditation and mindfulness at Headspace, alongside sleep specialist Dr. Aric Prather, the series is crafted to assist individuals in managing the feelings that typically accompany travel, potentially affecting sleep quality.
The opening episode of the series is available on Hyatt’s YouTube Channel. Visitors and participants can explore the full series on televisions in guest rooms at almost 400 included Hyatt hotels.
Hyatt initially joined forces with Headspace in 2019 to supply mindfulness practices, directed meditations, and sleep-related content to guests, members of World of Hyatt, and Hyatt’s workforce. By 2023, their offerings expanded to include sophisticated colored noise content.
As part of their initiative, Hyatt is extending one-year free subscriptions to Headspace to back non-profits like Salt & Light Coalition Chicago, ReStore NYC, University of Maryland Safe Center for Human Trafficking Survivors, Safe House Project, BEST Alliance, and Survivor Alliance.
